Description

Begin with a pickup from your hotel in Santa Maria and set off in an air-conditioned minibus. Be accompanied by a professional local guide who will provide insights into the island’s history, culture, and daily life. Make your first stop at Murdeira Bay, a scenic coastal viewpoint where your guide will introduce Sal’s geological formation and historical background. Continue to Palmeira, a traditional fishing village, followed by Burracona, home to the famous “Blue Eye” natural phenomenon, where ocean waves create a striking optical illusion in the volcanic rock formations. Next, proceed to Terra Boa, where you can observe the extraordinary desert mirages, a natural phenomenon caused by heat and light reflection. Travel to Espargos, the capital of the island, for a lunch break and a short opportunity to experience local urban life. In the afternoon, continue to Shark Bay (Baía da Parda), where you may observe lemon sharks in shallow waters in their natural habitat. Finally, head to Salinas de Pedra de Lume, an extinct volcanic crater filled with highly saline water. Experience the unique sensation of floating effortlessly, similar to the Dead Sea.

Important Information

• Wear comfortable clothing suitable for warm weather. We recommend bringing swimwear and a towel for floating in the Salt Mine experience. For extra comfort and safety, we use air-conditioned vans instead of pickup trucks, ensuring a more comfortable journey and allowing you to clearly hear the guides throughout the tour. All entrances are included with skip-the-line access, including the Salt Mines and Buracona. Lunch is included in a buffet style, with one drink and one dessert per person. Guests who wish to see the lemon sharks must rent water shoes on site for an additional fee of €3 per person.
