Description

Depart your hotel in the morning and head to the northern part of Santiago Island. Stop at the community of Longueira near the island's highest point, Pico D'Antónia. Continue to the Picos municipality's viewpoint for stunning views. Then, head to the city of Assomada to visit the famous municipal market, known for its vibrant colors (open only on Wednesdays and Saturdays). Next, travel through the community of Engenhos, where runaway slaves once hid from Portuguese colonists. Have opportunity to Visit the Fonte Lima ceramics interpretation center. Then meet local families and begin your cooking class, learning to make typical Cape Verdean dishes. After lunch, visit the oldest tree in Cape Verde, Pé de Poilon, which locals say is over 500 years old. Conclude your visit with a return trip to your hotel.
