Description
This carefully designed day tour is ideal for travelers who want to experience Santiago within a limited time frame. The route is compact, comfortable and well-balanced, allowing you to explore the island’s history, culture and daily life in one day — without rushing and with ample time to return relaxed.
The tour begins directly upon arrival at the port of Praia. Together with a knowledgeable local guide, you will first explore the historic center of Praia, gaining insight into daily life and the cultural background of Cape Verde. You then travel along the coast to Cidade Velha, the country’s oldest city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you stroll through historic streets, including the iconic Rua de Banana, while learning about the origins of Santiago and Cape Verde.
After the cultural visit, you stop at a local grogue distillery in Cidade Velha. You will learn about the traditional production of this iconic Cape Verdean spirit, followed by a relaxed lunch featuring local cuisine, freshly prepared and served in a welcoming setting.
In the afternoon, the tour continues across the island toward the east coast. In Pedra Badejo, you experience everyday life away from the tourist routes during a short village walk and a coastal stop. Afterwards, you return comfortably to the port of Praia, well before departure.
