This amazing journey starts with a pick-up from your hotel in Tarrafal. Enjoy a 20-minute scenic drive through the island’s northern landscapes as you make your way to the stunning Serra Malagueta Natural Park, one of the most preserved and ecologically rich areas on Santiago Island. Upon arrival, your experienced local guide will lead you on a peaceful hike through mountain trails surrounded by breathtaking scenery, fresh mountain air, and diverse natural beauty. The park is home to a unique ecosystem, with over 100 species of plants — many of them endemic to Cape Verde — as well as rare birds and native wildlife. As you walk, you’ll learn about the local fauna, flora, geology, and its importance as a protected area. Keep an eye out for endemic bird species such as the Cape Verde warbler, Iago sparrow, or the majestic Cape Verde buzzard soaring above the cliffs.
