Upon arrival, your experienced local guide will lead you on a peaceful hike through mountain trails surrounded by breathtaking scenery, fresh mountain air, and diverse natural beauty. The park is home to a unique ecosystem, with over 100 species of plants — many of them endemic to Cape Verde — as well as rare birds and native wildlife. As you walk, you’ll learn about the local fauna, flora, geology, and its importance as a protected area. Keep an eye out for endemic bird species such as the Cape Verde warbler, Iago sparrow, or the majestic Cape Verde buzzard soaring above the cliffs. Along the way, you may also pass by rural highland communities, where you’ll catch a glimpse of local life and traditional farming practices in this mountainous region. After descending from the highlands, the hike continues into Principal Valley, a hidden gem known for its green landscapes, peaceful atmosphere and agricultural field.
