Description

We will pick you up directly from your hotel or the cruise ship port and begin our journey toward Monte Verde, the highest peak on São Vicente. Rising within the Monte Verde Natural Park, which spans 3.12 km², this mountain is a unique ecological treasure. Thanks to its elevation, Monte Verde is noticeably greener and less arid than much of the island, serving as a sanctuary for São Vicente’s endemic flora. Out of 93 identified plant species, 17 are classified as endangered and can be found concentrated in this remarkable area, contrasting beautifully with the surrounding dry, volcanic landscapes. Our excursion starts with a scenic drive to the foot of the mountain. From there, we continue along a charming cobbled road that winds its way almost to the summit. The final stretch takes us along a walking trail leading to the very top. Upon reaching the summit, you will be rewarded with sweeping, panoramic views across São Vicente and, on clear days, neighboring islands. To complete this authentic experience, we will pause to savor the flavors of Cape Verde. Depending on your choice, you may enjoy a warm herbal tea, freshly brewed coffee, or the traditional Cape Verdean spirit known as grogue. Guests who join the afternoon option will have the added privilege of witnessing a breathtaking sunset from the island’s highest point—a truly unforgettable moment of peace and beauty above the Atlantic.
