This place is a gem ! While I was traveling solo, the owner Kiala made me feel right at home. You can sip a homemade cocktail with fantastic local rum while watching the sunset. It’s a truly amazing place and I hope I can go back soon there.
A paradise in the middle of the Atlantic sea Santo Antão is a magical island, and Walhalla captures that magic perfectly. Set right by the sea, with breathtaking views and beautifully curated facilities, everything feels effortlessly special. And then there are the people. I would especially like to highlight the kindness of dear Ellie, and of course Fátima’s and her cooking. Once you taste her dishes, you immediately realize there’s simply no reason to dine anywhere else on the island. The best meals are right there. Last but certainly not least, I feel incredibly fortunate that one of the owners, Kiala, was there during our stay. She is truly the soul of the place, a warm, genuine and deeply attentive host. From the very first moment, she made us feel completely at home, as though we were not simply guests, but part of something more personal and meaningful. She took the time to share the story of Walhalla and the magic of Santo Antão and its people and, just as importantly, she was genuinely interested in hearing about us. Every conversation felt natural, thoughtful and real. By the time we left, it felt less like saying goodbye to a host and more to a friend. Without a doubt, a place to return to.
We stayed at Walhalla for two nights and had an absolutely amazing experience. We were lucky that Kiala, the owner, was there during our stay, she is a wonderful host who truly makes you feel welcome. With only eight rooms, the place feels calm, intimate, and full of charm—perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing stay in Santo Antão. The whole space is beautifully decorated by Kiala and is a perfect place to unwind between hikes and adventures on the island. The food was another highlight. Everything is freshly prepared in front of you and full of flavor. They source their fish directly from local fishermen, and we had the chance to try both the tuna tartare and a grilled tuna steak, both were exceptional (Thanks to Fatima) Honestly, better than 99% of what we have in Portugal, which says a lot. The rooms are also beautiful, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. We would absolutely recommend Walhalla to anyone visiting Santo Antão and we can’t wait to be back.
Walhalla Seahouse was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of our time in Cabo Verde. From the very first moment, the staff made the difference, especially Chris, the manager, who truly knows how to take care of guests. Professional, warm, attentive and genuinely present — the kind of hospitality that makes you feel welcome rather than just accommodated. The design of the place is stunning. Thoughtfully curated, inspiring and perfectly integrated with the surroundings. It feels intimate, calm and soulful, a place where every detail has been considered with care and taste. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, and there is a real sense of authenticity that is often missing in other accommodations on the island. You can feel that this is a place run by people who care deeply about the experience they offer. Many reviews mention the peaceful vibe, the attention to detail and the quality of service — and they are absolutely right. Walhalla Seahouse delivers consistency, warmth and character in a way that is rare in Cabo Verde. If you are looking for a place with personality, great design and outstanding human touch, this is it. Highly recommended, and I would return without hesitation.
Stayed for 3 nights at the end of October. Absolute bliss. Chris and his team are amazing. The accommodation is 5* but the food is as well top notch and very well priced. Perfect place if you want to write a book. Very convenient if you are planning the Trilha Costeira which starts from Cruizinha.
