The trail initiates at 1,700m altitude, crossing dramatic lava fields formed by the most recent eruption. Walking here reveals black volcanic rock underfoot and the expansive caldera around you. As you climb toward 2,000m, the path steepens, winding through rugged volcanic terrain and soft ash.
At approximately 2,300m, a panoramic viewpoint offers a full view of the crater. On clear days, you can see the silhouettes of neighboring islands on the horizon. The air cools as the landscape becomes more surreal, with occasional hardy plants showcasing nature’s resilience in this volcanic environment.
