Description
The 4x4 tour showcases Boa Vista’s landscapes and cultural landmarks. Visit the shipwreck at Cabo Santa Maria, where a Spanish cargo ship ran aground in 1968. The crew escaped unharmed, but despite attempts by tugboats, the ship remains stranded. Unloading the cargo took nearly a year and was transported by mule to Sal Rei.
The tour begins with a drive to Rabil, sampling local delicacies and exploring the village. Then continue to the Cabo Santa Maria shipwreck, a striking rusted hulk on a sandy beach, offering excellent photo opportunities.
Next, stop at Bofareira village to visit a goat farm and observe local cheese production, including tasting samples. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a family-run restaurant in Fundo das Figueiras featuring locally sourced ingredients.
The afternoon includes free time followed by a visit to a soap-making project operated by the Association of Northern Women, promoting gender equality. The day concludes at the Local Biodiversity Centre with insights into the island’s marine life.
