Description
This peaceful walk follows the beach between two volcanoes near Calhau in the island's eastern region. Though not currently active, the volcanoes are key features of the local volcanic landscape, which includes cinder cones, solidified lava fields, and barren terrain that reflect the island’s geological history.
The surrounding area features dark, rocky soil with sparse vegetation, creating a desert-like, almost lunar setting. Waves gently crash on the shore while the sea breeze enhances the sense of calm and openness.
Walking on soft sand, you will see the sea stretching out to the right, with waters shifting between blue and green depending on sunlight and clouds. To the left, dunes and low-lying coastal plants add to the scenery, with seabirds occasionally leaving footprints in the sand.
Along the path, shells and small coral fragments wash up with the tide. The cool sea water brushes your feet as you walk near the shoreline. Each breath carries the scent of the ocean, helping you connect with nature and relax fully. The walk concludes with an opportunity for a refreshing swim in the bay’s calm waters.
