Your guide and driver will take you to Agua de Gato, a small village in the São Domingos valley, to learn how to cook Katchupa, the traditional Cape Verdean dish. You will be immersed in a local family environment while participating in each step of the process.
This experience includes harvesting corn from the terrace to grind it, preparing vegetables and beans, and collecting wood to light the fire. While the Katchupa cooks, you will visit the Agua de Gato valley and meet local residents in their daily lives.
The tour also features a visit to a distillery where you can taste “grogue,” the Cape Verdean rum popular with locals and visitors. Additionally, you will learn to play uril, a traditional board game.
