Leave the city behind and head east, where the landscape shifts dramatically. In the Calhau area, discover a surprising green valley where agriculture, volcanic soil, and local life coexist. This is São Vicente beyond the postcards, real, simple, and authentic.
Pause for lunch in a local restaurant. This is your chance to enjoy Cape Verdean cuisine, fresh, flavorful, and rooted in tradition.
Continue along the coast to Salamansa, a quiet fishing village shaped by the sea. Then arrive at Baía das Gatas, one of the island’s most iconic spots. Protected by natural reefs, the water here is calm and inviting, perfect for a refreshing swim or simply relaxing by the shore.
End your journey at the highest point of the island. The road to Monte Verde winds through dramatic landscapes until you reach breathtaking panoramic views. On clear days, you can see the entire island, mountains, ocean, and Mindelo in the distance.
