Your adventure begins with a convenient hotel pick-up in Santa Maria, followed by a short drive to one of the island’s protected turtle nesting beaches, such as Algodoeiro, Kite Beach or Serra Negra. Once you arrive, a passionate local guide will welcome you and provide a short but insightful briefing in a calm and respectful setting. You’ll learn about the endangered loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta), their life cycle, and the vital conservation work being done on the island.
