Description
This experience begins with your arrival in Porto Novo, where a comfortable vehicle will be waiting to take you on a 1-hour drive to the majestic Planalto da Cova. Upon reaching the Cova Crater, your journey begins at the top of an extinct volcano. On one side, the spectacular crater with its cultivated fields; on the other, a breathtaking view of the famous Vale do Paúl, known as the 'garden of Cape Verde.' The 3- to 4-hour descent is not just a hike, it is a journey through time. The stone trail winds through postcard-perfect landscapes, taking you past sugar cane, coffee, cassava, banana, and mango plantations. The scent of the plants mingles with the fresh mountain air as your local guide, a true storyteller, shares the secrets of agriculture and the traditions of the island. The highlight of the experience is the homemade lunch. At the end of the trail, in a family home, you will be welcomed with genuine Cape Verdean hospitality. The meal is not just food, it is a celebration of local flavors. Savour the legendary cachupa, congo beans, and corn, and toast to this journey with a glass of artisanal grogue — a unique liqueur made on the island. After lunch, a car will be waiting to take you back to Porto Novo or, if you prefer, to your accommodation in Vale do Paúl or Ribeira Grande.Includes
