Reviews
The hotel was great. Clean and very well located on the beach. Plenty of sun loungers by the pool and by the beach. Food is plentiful and very varied. I wouldn't say that the quality of the food is excellent but i guess this happens in most of AI resorts. Evening entertainment was not great- the team really tried, but all their entertainment was dancing- on different themed nights which gets boring (compared to the entertainment in Turkey, for example, this has nothing to do). My favourite part was the animation team during the day. They were all pretty amazing and tried their best. There are a few fitness classes which I personally enjoyed although there could have been more. The Riu Fit guys were superstars!! (there is a gym onsite but it is pretty rubbish - with a couple of machines that are outdated- I seriously wished for a better gym facility). Not a lot to do for tweens. There is a club for small children (didn't use), and a water wark.
Beautiful beach, average rooms that are cleaned well. We had 3 people in our room and only got 2 chairs on the balcony, I asked for an extra one. One of the balcony chairs snapped in half when sat on sending my husband flying, he was not injured but for someone else it might have been a different outcome. Only 2 robes for 3 people which were taken by cleaners on day 2 of 2 week holiday and not replaced even after I requested it on the app. Food was really good (no food poisoning for anyone in our group of 7) but the cocktails were poor (pre made) nothing special. Always sun loungers available but they were very poor quality for a 5* hotel, very uncomfortable! (Please update these) Staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel grounds were spotless. I really enjoyed this holiday and would definitely come back again,
Just got back from The Riu Palace hotel. I went for 11 nights with my family of 4. Can’t really fault the place. The hygiene, cleanliness and general condition were immaculate. Staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough really. Food (which we were a little worried about) was outstanding. Even in the main restaurant Africa. We tried almost everything with no issues The resort is right in on the beach, stunning views. Daytime entertainment was always available and fun. Drinks were the real deal. None of these cheap equivalents. It was all branded of which we were very pleasantly surprised with. Onsite water park and kids slides were very good fun. The only bit of constructive criticism was the evening entertainment. Came across a little budget, and there was no kids disco etc. Otherwise outstanding holiday.
Holiday started great, first in the queue to check in, room was ready so check in was quick. Room was very spacious but we immediately asked for bed sheets to be changed, visibly dirty around the bottom which were changed with no fuss. Room was well stocked with drinks (both alcohol and soft drinks). We did pay for a room upgrade so not sure if that was standard. Our room had a plunge pool which we used often. Fantastic room 👌 Grounds are very spacious and clean. Main pools were very busy and crowded which was the same with evening entertainment. You needed to book quickly if you want to use one of the restaurants. We used the steak house once which was a welcome break from the buffet which has plenty variety but repetitive. All good though. Located minutes from the airport but you hear or see no air traffic. Sat right on a glorious beach but there is literally nothing around. A short walk to the left down the beach takes you to a lovely beach fronted restaurant (look out for a chimney stack) and a €10 taxi will take you to the town - not so much there though. Staff and people who live on the island are very welcoming, lovely people. The gym needs updating is my only negative feedback! A place I would return.
This was our second visit to the Rui Palace and we were not disappointed. Flight and transfer brilliant ( we took a taxi to the hotel ). Check in seemless and staff on reception very welcoming. We had 2 rooms booked but as arrived at lunchtime only one ready which was fine. Good information given about when second room available. We had requested nearby , first floor rooms - and that is exactly what we got. Room spacious and spotless. This is a great place just to kick back and relax. The hotel has 3 lovely pools and a gorgeous beach. We loved the entertainment around the pool and actively participated in Aquafit and bingo ! The quality of restaurants and food is great. We particularly loved the Fusion cuisine restaurant Everywhere is very clean and after all the negativity about problems in Cape Verde we were very reassured What really makes this hotel stand out are the staff. Everyone is just so lovely, welcoming and helpful. Special shout out to Damila who made us laugh every breakfast - I think we made her laugh sometimes ! Big praise also to Junior, Vanessa and Mr Precious for keeping us entertained ! Keep doing what you are doing Hope to see you next year Jo
