Lucia offers lodging and meals featuring local products and introduced us to new flavors. From Janela, after climbing a picturesque stone footpath, my daughter and I were greeted by Lucia, who immediately offered us a local tamarind drink. We enjoyed dinner with local ingredients: fish, vegetables, salad, and camoca ice cream, followed by a peaceful evening on her terrace. This was the starting point for our most beautiful hike on São Antão: the ascent to the Cruz peak, the crater, and the descent into the Paul Valley.
We received a warm welcome from our host, Lúcia, at the bottom of Janela, who accompanied us along a very picturesque path that climbs steeply to Casa Terra ☺️, culminating in a breathtaking view. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent, varied, and well-balanced, featuring only local products. Lúcia was very attentive to our requests and expectations. She proved to be a fantastic guide for a variety of hikes and gave us a glimpse into the authentic lives of the locals, a far cry from our comfortable existence. A major bonus was that she speaks excellent French.
