Description

Enjoy a pickup from the Port of Praia and start the day with this historical tour to discover Santiago Island's heritage sites. Upon disembarking your cruise ship, it's just a short 2-minute walk to the only exit from the small Port of Praia. There, you will meet your expert guide who will be waiting for you with your name on a sign. From there, head towards the historic center of Plateau and take a guided tour through the Jaime Mota Military Barracks, Presidential Palace, Praça Alexandre Albuquerque, and the Municipal Market (closed on Sundays). Next, move on to Cidade Velha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first city built by Europeans in sub-Saharan Africa. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour of the São Filipe Fortress, explore the ruins of the first Cathedral built by Europeans in Sub-Saharan Africa, visit the former slave market, and stroll along the famous Banana Street with its thatched houses. After immersing yourself in the local history, enjoy a scenic drive back to Praia, and the tour concludes with drop-off at Praia Harbor.
